Alex Neff (they/them) is the non-binary, neurodivergent (BPD/ADHD) creative behind Drawing Thanks: a daily portraiture illustration project which has been ongoing for eight years and counting. They are happiest when connecting with others over creative self-expression. With passion for design-thinking, illustration, storytelling, and universal accessibility, Alex has shared portraits and thank-you notes to over 3500 BC locals, thanking them for the unique ways they show up for their community. Alex works, lives, and plays on the unceded territories of the Katzie First Nation and Kwantlen First Nation and is currently Artist in Residence for the City of Maple Ridge.
Alex received their Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from The British Columbia Institute of Technology and found ways to elevate their practice through Biomimicry (design inspired by nature) and Cradle-to-Cradle Circular Economics. Over the years since, they have pivoted, again and again... and again to gain knowledge from creatives of all perspectives. Throughout the adventures, they have worked to refine their design, copywriting, and illustration skills to provide holistic design solutions in both the physical and digital world.
To connect with Alex, send them an email. Break the ice by asking them about Drawing Thanks and tell them about someone who has inspired you in your life.
