Working with Ridge Meadows Recycling Society (RMRS) was an impactful experience for everyone involved because of an incredibly prominent shared sense of values. There were opportunities to focus on material life span and upcycling, calling back to important work with Green Coast Rubbish, BC Tiny House Collective, and NADA. In fact, all the paint used in this project was reclaimed. There was also an opportunity to engage with folks with barriers to employment, which was such an essential part of work previously done at A Better Life Foundation. This was truly a project fuelled by lived experience and love for placemaking. It was an unforgettable experience to lead the team at RMRS and get to know the staff and their love for their work and community as they were led in a large-scale paint-by-numbers mural installation. It was also pretty fun to reinterpret the RMRS logo into a vibrant community scene.
